News in brief
Spring is the season of the year that brings new shoots and growth. Chorleywood Music is following nature’s lead by expanding the range of activities on offer. Plans for the formation of a new community choir are well under way with prospects of concert appearances later this year. Also, as more of our orchestra members have become interested in playing in smaller groups, we are moving forward towards more ensemble and chamber music activities. There are plans to run a summer school and to support and encourage local school children to learn a musical instrument. Our annual Young Musician competition has attracted 34 entries this year; the final eight will compete for the title on 22nd March.
Pianist and local resident, Thomas Kelly, has recently won second prize at the 2026 International Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht, and our conductor Daniel Hogan was one of the 20 conductors chosen to compete in the prestigious Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition. Lots happening this spring!
